Hertz, John

Georgette Heyer's novels of English Regency aristocrats (about the year 1800) have long tickled fannish whimsy.  Try Arabella, Cotillion, or The Grand Sophy.  The latest craze is Patrick O'Brian;
Jane Austen isn't bad either.  Regency dancing has become a regular feature at conventions;  John Hertz will be here to host and teach us on Friday night.  Come in costume, or come as you are.

John Hertz is probably best known for infecting fandom with English Regency Dancing.  He makes a cameo appearance in Larry Niven's  N-Space;  he also reads Dorothy Dunnett and Vladimir Nabokov.  He is said to be good at panels.  He belongs to ASFA, and has been in APA-L for thirty years.  Recently he has been circulating his weekly zine Vanamonde.  His "Westercon Notebook" appears regularly in File 770; Worldcon Masquerade reviews in Science Fiction Chronicle.  He drinks Talisker.
